I started at Northwestern University Library as the Web Technologies Department Head in September 2009. By August 31, 2010, my team had launched a new website. The site hadn’t been redesigned in more than 5 years, and the architecture hadn’t been revised in over 7 years. About the new site:
- was the library’s first content management system implementation (ever)
- migrated from Dreamweaver mini-sites to Drupal 6 content management system
- launched revised architecture, content, photos
- site included new landing page design
- used Solr enterprise search for website search
- took 3 months to build (3 full-time workers, 3 student employees)
- site includes dynamic news, hours, and location content
